A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR

Kathy and I just returned very late this past Friday from a wonderful trip to Athens and the Greek Islands of Mykonos and Santorini. We were part of a tour group and had an almost perfect experience. But imagine if we had gotten off the plane and been told “good luck, hope you enjoy your stay, you’re on your own.”  Or even had placed in our hands one of those tourist maps and nothing more.  But no, we had a guide from the very first step to the last.  A guide who knew the territory, who knew where to go, who knew the language, who knew what to do.  There is all the difference in the world between someone saying “Here is some information” and someone saying, “I’ve been there, I know how to get there and what to do.”

I say all that because we have been given an incredible map in the gift of the Bible.  It lays out the instructions and inspiration for a full and adventurous life.   But it is no match for a guide.  And so God understood this and gave us a Son named Jesus.  He became human, he experienced what we experience, and then went to Calvary to make it all possible.  Jesus is the ULTIMATE GUIDE.  He says very clearly, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

IF we were given only the Bible it would not be enough.  What I need is someone who has been there, that I can trust understands me and what life involves.  He is for me the Good Shepherd, who not only watches over me but also goes before me in all of life.  And because of that I trust that I need never be lost.  The way forward is the way of Christ who has come to be a guide for us all.  So today allow Him to show you the way to travel.  Thanks be to God

Brave Journey,

Bill
