“Give us this day our daily bread.”
It may not sound like much. Daily bread. The Israelites making their way across the wilderness were promised manna for each day. Not enough for tomorrow, just enough for today, with the trust that tomorrow would provide tomorrow’s needs.
I’m typing this on a Monday morning. Monday mornings are famous for having to start all over, with a sigh and a grunt. But what if today you decided to look around and look within and purposefully kept your eyes and heart open to surprising gifts from above. My college chaplain would often challenge me to be available to a “divine surprise.” Maybe it is simply a beautiful fall day or a call/text from a friend. Maybe it is a good cup of coffee or for me a biscuit at Chick-Fil-A.
And maybe you can be the one who provides this for someone else. A phone call to a friend, a visit to the nursing home, a prayer for someone struggling.
Daily bread. It is enough. Look around and look within. I bet God has given you gifts all around and I invite you to pause and give thanks. What a bountiful God our God is.
Brave Journey,
Bill
