In a world that often feels busy, noisy and demanding, setting aside time each week to gather with God’s people is more important than ever. I often say “I can’t make it without coming to the church house each week to be with God and God’s people.” It is just the way I am spiritually wired and I hope with you as well.
Attending church is so much more than finding your place in the pew. It honors God, it offers Him your praise, and it delights Him that you have considered all His benefits in your life. It also, and this means everything to me, it allows you to be in fellowship with others who remind you of God. I can’t be away more than a week, or for me even half a week on Wednesdays, without being renewed and strengthened just by being with my church family. How many times has it been my experience that when I could not carry myself, I was carried by others just seeing their face and worshiping together.
Where will you be this Sunday? Did you even have to think about it? I always said of my parents that when I was a child I could tell you where I would be a year from now on Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evening. That was the gift my parents gave me.
Hebrews 10:25 says, “Let us not give up meeting together… but let us encourage one another.”
So be it.
