A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR

I remember well the late fall of 2023.  I met with Barbara Best and told her I would help the church by preaching the four Sundays of Advent.  That was two and a half years ago and I am still blessed to be allowed to continue as your Interim Pastor all these months and years later.  However, for a number of reasons I need just a brief break to recharge my batteries. As such, I have requested and been granted by the deacons a four week unpaid sabbatical from May 4-31.  I am delighted that you will not miss a beat by having Don Phillips preach each of those four Sundays.  Don is a seasoned and excellent proclaimer of God’s word and a familiar face to all.

Sabbaticals are a way for a church to invest in their pastor in order to bring returns as a result.   I love being your pastor and will look forward to returning after only a few weeks.  In the meantime there will be no Wednesday night study just during the month of May.

I would appreciate your prayers that I might make the most of my time away.  I look forward to separate visits with my daughters and grandchildren and time with Kathy away from the weekly responsibilities.  As I’ve often said to other churches—your pastor needs a break from you or you need a break from your pastor.  I won’t ask which one you think is appropriate here!!!!

Thanks, I look forward to seeing you soon and I have told the deacons if a serious need should arise I am more than willing to return.  Much love and thanks for a wonderful two and a half years.

Brave Journey,

Bill
