Have you noticed? There is a tremendous battle going on in our world today. It is a battle between right and wrong, good and evil, justice and injustice, truth and falsehood, morality and immorality, decency and indecency, civility and incivility, etc. and we are right in the middle of it.
James Russell Lowell called it “The Present Crisis”. The crisis of his time was slavery. He spoke of “Truth forever on the scaffold, wrong forever on the throne.” And, it does seem that way, doesn’t it. Ever since Adam and Eve rebelled against God, disobeyed his instructions and took the forbidden fruit every generation has had a present crisis.
While there are always threats and dangers surrounding us, we would do well to acknowledge that our greatest threat, our greatest danger, comes from the battle that rages within us. We can be and often are, “Our own worst enemy”.
The Apostle Paul used the Roman Soldier’s Armor to explain how God has provided the necessary equipment for our defense in the spiritual warfare that we face in our present crisis.
Over the next 8 weeks during morning worship we will concentrate on The Christian’s Armor as described by Paul in Ephesians 6:10-18. Make Sunday worship and Bible Study a priority in your life. Invite friends, neighbors and people you have contact with in the market place to join us as we equip ourselves with God’s armor for the battles we face.
In His Love,
Charles
