Am I the only one who is tired of February already? Seriously, it seems as if the weather has decided to do its worst at the very times church is scheduled to gather.
So I’ve been thinking about what is the best posture to have when dealing with the conditions lately. Paul, the Apostle, found himself locked in a jail cell—far worse than being snowbound at home. Writing to his favorite church, the people at Philippi, he continued to sound one note in it all—REJOICE! Is Paul delirious, out of touch with reality, or does he know a secret we all can learn from?
Here’s Slater’s word of advice for trying times—-FOCUS ON GRATITUDE. Don’t just be cute about it, literally sit down, pull out a piece of paper and pen, and write down 10 things you are thankful for.
Paul, in chapter 4 of Philippians writes, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God.” Read all of Philippians and see how often the words rejoice and thanksgiving are found.
So hang in there, give thanks for so much, and trust God knows you and cares for you in all things. I hope to see you soon.
Brave Journey, Bill
