“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” (Psalm 107:1)
As we prepare for one of the most appropriate holidays of the year, I invite you to pause a moment and count your blessings. As you do, be sure to focus your gratitude, even your heart, on the One from whom “Every good and perfect gift” comes.
Thanksgiving, best lived, is more than a holiday–it is a posture of the heart. Scripture invites us again and again to remember God’s goodness, His faithfulness, and His unfailing love. Gratitude, best lived, is not dependent upon the circumstances that rise and fall daily, but rather flows from the Spirit of God within us.
Paul helps us here. He writes, “In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18) Notice he did not say give thanks FOR everything, but rather IN everything. Gratitude, as much as anything, changes the landscape and moves us to a more positive place.
So Happy Thanksgiving. We who know Christ and are known by Christ have more blessings than we can count.
Brave Journey, Bill
