A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR

The words of Psalm 146 are eternal but also current.  “Put not your trust in princes.”  How tempting it is to do that but how inevitable the disappoints come when we do.  I so often say of almost everything—-friends, jobs, money, church (you name it)–they make poor saviors.

In a day and time when politics and tribalism and deep divisions seem the order of the day, it is critical that we put our trust in only that which is trustworthy.

There is only one Savior.  “Princes” come and go.  “When their breath departs, they return to the earth, on that very day their plans perish.”  (v.4)  But verses 5 and 6 proclaim, “Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God….who keeps faith forever.”

And so what can we focus on?  Where can we find hope?  Who can be counted on?  Verse 10–“This Lord will reign forever…for all generations.”

Brave Journey, Bill
