The news is reporting that President Donald Trump will soon meet with North Korea’s President Kim Jong-un. Our 2018 Theme is “CONTINUE IN PRAYER”. If there was ever a time to pray for World Leaders it is now.
My attention has been drawn to the lead chapter in a book by Frank C. Laubach on Prayer, the mightiest force in the world.” He entitles the chapter “Pray for World Leaders”. His chapter title is in keeping with Paul’s encouragement to his Son in the Ministry, Timothy who said,
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:1-4)
In 1946, Laubach’s book was published with an admonition that is relevant for today. He said,
“We had better not neglect prayer now! As Cordell Hull solemnly warned us, ‘The human race is confronted with the gravest crisis in its
experience. We who are on the scene of action have to say which way it is going.’ We are, in fact in a terrifying dilemma. Science has been developing missiles which travel thousands of miles an hour, and super explosives so diabolically efficient in wholesale killings that all scientists agree with President Eisenhower that ‘we cannot survive a third world war.’
Lauback continues, “…This is not a time for confidence, nor is it a time for despair; it is the time to turn to God. It is a time for humility, penitence, desperate resolve, rectitude, obedience to the will of God, all-out sincerity…The humblest of us can pray. Millions of us ordinary people must pour an incessant white light of prayer upon our world leaders, day after day. We must lift the heads of those leaders toward God so that they will hear Him and will obey His will….Prayer is to the world of human relations what white corpuscles are to the human body. If enough of us pray enough there will be permanent peace. If we do not pray, and enough like us, hell will break loose again, and we and our homes will all be sucked into the bloody maelstrom of a third world war and perish.” CONTINUE IN PRAYER.
In His love,
Charles
