A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR

Like many others from CVBC, I attended the 100th birthday party for Aladine Rogers Saturday afternoon.  Is there ever a sweeter and more gracious lady than her?  It left me wondering—what is her secret?  Of course a life lived in Christ but how did that get lived out?

I think one of the keys to staying alive is to continue to have a curiosity about life.  I think of the simple, but profound words found on the tombstone of Ruth Graham, the wife of Billy Graham.  On a simple piece of marble are the words “end of construction–thanks for your patience.l”   Isn’t that beautiful.  A person who saw the wisdom to never stop growing, to wake up each morning expecting to see evidences of God at work.

I’m so thankful for the witness and example Aladine has given us.  The Apostle Paul, towards the end of his journey, wrote those immortal words–:I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

One day we will all cross the finish line and receive our heavenly reward.  But in the meantime, keep growing, keep going, never may it be said that you died long before your heart stopped beating.

I don’t know about you, but I run better when in the company of others.  So that’s church and that is why we need each other to live the fullest of lives.

I want to die growing.

Brave Journey, Bill
