“…his sheep follow Him because they know His voice” (John 10) A question I often ask others and ask myself—“What voice are you listening to?”
There are so many voices competing for our attention nearly every day. Which voice sounds loudest to you these days? The voice of God or the voice of the world? The voice of the morning paper or evening news or the voice of Scripture? The voice of your spouse/best friend/boss or the voice of the Good Shepherd? The voice of peace or the voice of war? The voice that says you are not enough or the voice of unconditional acceptance? So many voices competing to gain attention and control your life?
When those voices become too much may I suggest you be still and trust the voice of love that is the voice of God and the only voice that ultimately is truth and dependable.
You are loved not because of what you do but because of who you are. So pause a moment right now, be still, listen for the voice that echoes “You are my beloved in whom I am well pleased.” And keep your heart and soul tuned to that voice.
The sheep know the Masters voice because they spend time every day in communion. That is the lesson for us. The way to know the voice of truth is to spend time with that voice. Prayer, scripture reading, maybe even a good walk. It is the sweetest voice of all.
Brave Journey,
Bill
