A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR

“I press on toward the goal to win the prize.” The words are the Apostle Paul’s and they are written from a jail cell of all places. Pressing on. Sometimes it is as ordinary and daily as that.

The Christian life, best understood is not so much a 100 yard dash, where you fly out of the starting blocks and soon can say you have finished, as it is a marathon and even more a lifelong journey. Pressing on implies that some days the wind is not at your back but hitting you right in the face and even worse in the heart.

What do you do on those days? Paul, even from a jail cell, says you press on. You do not wallow in self-pity and ask that ubiquitous question—“Why me?” but rather ask “What next?” and expect God is never finished with you.

February, thankfully, is coming to an end. It is the shortest month but sometimes because of where it is situated towards the end of winter, feels like the longest. But the few days of springlike weather this week has teased us but also encouraged us that warmer days are coming. And just that much more—there is always more that God has in store for us.

The key is to never give up, keep pressing on, and look forward to what God has in store for you right around the next bend.

Brave Journey,
Bill
