So many tributes continue to pour in for the life and legacy of Dolly Parton. In a world that hungers for humility, generosity and authenticity, Dolly shined a brilliant light for us all to see and celebrate. She often connected her success with a desire to give something back. Her story reminds us that we don’t have to be wealthy or famous to make a difference. We simply have to notice a need and ask, “What can I do?”
This is a lesson we find throughout Scripture. Jesus taught his followers to serve others, care for those in need, and give without recognition. In Matthew 5:16 He tells us, “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
A simple gift can make all the difference. Millions of books she has given to children, scholarships to college, supporting a cure for COVID, etc. etc. She gave her life to others. Reminds me of a simple carpenter’s son from Nazareth. And challenges me to what gifts I have that can make the world a better place. I hope you too.
Brave Journey,
Bill
