A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR

A man’s life was changed after a dreadful accident.  He survived the accident but would spend many days in the hospital on his back in traction.

His pastor was the famous Methodist minister, Charles Allen.  When Allen went to see him, he affirmed him in every possible way.  But he also pointed out that he did not see him at church very often.  And he didn’t see him with his teenage boys very often any more.  He and the man talked for a long time. Then before he left he encouraged the man to use the time he had been given.  “Jeff,” he said, “while you are on your back, this is a good time for ;you to get used to looking up again.”

This is the start of a new year.  All our hopes, our dreams, our needs.  Maybe it is a good time for some of us to get used to looking up again.  As the Psalmist declared, “My times are in your hands.”  I’m so glad.  Instead of just the evening news, the morning headlines, there is still God. I am challenged to keep my eyes on that which is above that it might inform and bless everything that is below.

What will you do to make 2026 a year filled with promise, a year which the world can’t give and the world can’t take away.  As the great Danish philosopher proclaimed—“For all that has been, thanks.  For all that shall be, YES!”

Brave Journey, Bill
