What a year it has been. I am so impressed by CVBC coming together as a church community to overcome the challenges the pandemic has brought upon us. We have found ways to still stay connected during these hard times. The virtual Sunday services have been wonderful! The youth group has found a way to stay connected too! The youth group sends out Speed Friending letters once a month to members of the church. Speed Friending used to happen on the 1st Wednesday of every month during the end of adult Bible study at church. Due to the pandemic, the youth have started mailing Speed Friending letters. The purpose of Speed Friending is to build a relationship between the adults and youth at church. The youth share about some of their interests and ask you to share about yours so you all can get to know each other. If you get a Speed Friending letter, please write us back! The youth enjoy getting letters back and gaining a new pen pal.
The youth are scheduled to attend Passport Camp this June. Passport Camp has tried very hard to find ways to make it safe for churches to attend during the pandemic. The youth still plan to attend camp this summer. The youth have done several fundraisers this year to earn the tuition money for camp. The fundraisers were the two Drive-Thru Crabtree Café’s (which were a huge success) and the Christmas Craft Sale. With all of your support and generous donations, we are very close to meeting our financial goal to attend camp. The youth group will host another Drive-Thru Crabtree Café in the spring which will hopefully complete our fundraising.
Every 4th Sunday of the month, the youth participate in the virtual Sunday morning service by reading scripture. However, on Sunday February 28th, the youth will be hosting the entire Sunday morning service. We will have a guest minister, Rev. Michelle Anderson, deliver the message. The youth will be doing a skit, presenting a painting they created, and reading scripture. The youth have spent a lot of time practicing and they are very excited for you to watch the service at home so be sure and tune in this Sunday!
Blessings! Ashley Walker, Youth Leader
