Wednesday night prayer and Bible Study can be an uplifting experience for all who will take advantage of the opportunity. Studying the Word of God gives us opportunity not only to gain Bible knowledge but to grow spiritually and enhance our relationship with Christ.
The Psalmist said, “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” (Psalm 42:1-2). How enriched our lives could be if every Christian could feel the way the Psalmist felt about God’s Word. How much better off we would be if we had thirst for God’s Word. Did you notice, that the Psalmist asked a question? “When can I go and meet with God?”
The answer to that question does not come from God but rather resides in the human heart. We can meet with God anytime and anyplace that our heart desires. God is always available. God, in fact, pleads with us to meet with Him. One of His invitations is found in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
In the past we have studied “The Sermon on the Mount,” The Book of James, The Book of Jude and Paul’s letter to the Philippians. Over the next few months we will focus our attention on “Experiencing God” using the Bible and the book by that title written by Henry T. Blackaby and Claude V. King. Some of you have engaged in this study in the past. Now is a good time to refresh your mind and heart on this great subject. Some of you now have an opportunity to approach this study for the first time.
Make Wednesday night Bible study a priority in your life. Join fellow believers at CVBC who are eager to learn and grow in the Lord. Sharpen your sensitivity to what God is doing around you each day and what he wants to do in your life. You can meet God at any time but it is my prayer that you will make a special effort to meet Him on Wednesday nights and Sunday Mornings at CVBC. I look forward to seeing you when we gather for Bible Study and Worship.
In His Love,
Charles
