It is the season of gifts…so I want to encourage you at the end of this year to be sure to remember your church and its ministry goals. We don’t, after all, give to a budget or just to pay the bills.
We give because we have first been given so much, indeed our very salvation.
Two lines, two quotes always stand out for me when it comes to giving. One is this—God doesn’t want this from you, He wants it for you.” Giving freely and abundantly just does something for you—it moves you from a spirit of scarcity to a spirit of abundance. You trust God to provide, you are not bound by debt, you are FREE.
The second quote is straight from the Apostle Paul. Describing the amazing generosity of the church at Macedonia he says, “First they gave themselves to the Lord.” This is the way it always works. If the first loyalty of your heart is to Christ, out of that will flow rivers of goodness and trust and joy and you will want to give.” First things first. Give yourself, and your finances, to Christ and the rest follows.
Our church depends on your giving to accomplish its ministry goals. With all the other gifts you are giving these days, remember and consider how you can be a Kingdom Builder and give an extra gift that shows the place God has in your life and the desire you have to support our church.
Brave Journey, Bill
