I have never played a round of golf, but enjoy watching it if for no other reason it always leads to a good nap!!! After a wonderful meal and fellowship at the K & W on Sunday, I watched Scottie Scheffler win yet another tournament.
I am reminded of something John Ortberg once said:
“Following Jesus is kind of like playing golf. The easy part is to get a vision of what you need to do–the perfect swing, the right body stance, the correct angle of approach—and, of course, make par. The hard part is getting that vision into your muscle memory so it just naturally comes out of you without even thinking.”
He goes on–“Hearing sermons about following Jesus is kind of like watching YouTube videos on golf—it’s a wonderful place to start, but you won’t get very far until you put your shoes on and hit the green.”
So put your shoes on this week and be the presence of Christ. You will win every time you do.
