A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR

Isaiah 40:31 is a favorite verse of many–“They who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not faint.”   But who likes to wait?????

I am typing this on Monday morning and have waited over two weeks for my wife to return from a mission trip to Africa.   Her flight last night got canceled and so I am now waiting for her to arrive around supper time tonight.  I DON”T LIKE WAITING!!!

My wife will tell you that patience has not always been my spiritual gift.  But there is a wonderful promise that kind of sneaks into this verse. Some days we may not soar like eagles or run with the wind at our back, but it promises that we will walk and not faint.  That doesn’t sound as exciting or dramatic but trust me, there are days where just putting one foot in front of the other is a gift to be cherished.

So what are you waiting for?   How long has it been?  And yet you are still moving forward, God has not forgotten you, indeed if you pause for a moment there are blessings all around that you don’t have to wait for any more.

I”m waiting this morning, but I’m also on a Monday morning renewing my strength because God is walking alongside.  Give it a try yourself.  Wait, God has not forgotten you, and if you are not soaring or running, be thankful you are still walking one step in front of the other.

Brave Journey, Bill
