In case you didn’t catch this story on the internet I thought that it was worth sharing.
A lovely little girl was holding two apples with both hands. Her Mom came in and softly asked her little daughter with a smile, my sweetie, could you give your Mom one of your two apples? The girl looked up at her Mom for some seconds, then she suddenly took a quick bite on one apple, and then quickly on the other. The Mom felt the smile on her face freeze. She tried hard not to reveal her disappointment. Then the little girl handed one of her bitten apples to her Mom and said, “here you are. This is the sweeter one.”
The desire of this little girl to give her mother the best apple brings up an important question about how we treat God. Do we always seek to give God the best we have? Scripture speaks of giving Him the “First Fruits”.
When it comes to our time, talents, offerings, our heart, or anything else, do we give God the best or are we content to give him the leftovers or nothing at all.
A beloved song entitled “Give of Your Best to the Master” has thought provoking lines such as:
Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth.
Give of your best to the Master;
Give Him first place in your heart.
Give of your best to the Master
Naught else is worthy His love;
Give Him your heart’s adoration;
Give Him the best that you have.
Our love for God is demonstrated in action not in words. What we do speaks so loud that God is not convinced by our words or good intentions. Give your best to Him because nothing less is worthy of His love.
In His Love,
Charles
