According to World Happiness data, the happiest place on our planet is…. FINLAND.

I was surprised to read that as Kathy and I visited there a few years ago and found their days long on darkness and short on light.  However, it was obvious the huge value they placed on family, which has to account for at least some of their level of happiness.  And where did America rank—24th among the nations and dropping every year in most recent times.

Happiness is conditional.  The stock market is up, I’m happy.  Down, not so much.  Our family life, our work, our health, our finances, if they are in good shape so our happiness follows.  But those never stay perfect ALL the time so happiness is a fleeting idol

How would you rank yourself?  I can guarantee you being with a church family makes a difference.  And Christian virtues like patience, empathy, and generosity make for happier people, too.

It’s always a choice we make.  As Victor Frankl famously said, the last great freedom of man is to choose his attitude and response to any situation.  Wherever we live.

Brave Journey, Bill
